Will Owen: Looking Fab At Fifty

When a Radio 2 producer assumes you’re a fan of Jessie J’s ‘Bang Bang’ based on a 30 second phone call, that’s going to make you question things. It made Will Owen ponder his future: what will life be like aged 50, given what’s happening now in his 20s, with commitment issues and a gay scene where he’s not quite as unique a person as he once believed? The show is mainly about the now, with just a little future gazing, as Will uses life experiences and embarrassments to craft some very funny stories. His audience interactions are always good, though this show relies a little on how their relationships contrast with his own, which I suspect works better some nights than others. But whatever those interactions deliver, it’s a performance that goes with a bang (bang).

Assembly Roxy, until 24 Aug.
