Will Owen: Like, Nobody’s Watching
There are several strands running through Will Owen’s excellent debut hour. His love of talent and reality shows is the central theme, but in among his dissection, celebration and occasional re-enactment of ‘X-Factor’, ‘Strictly’ et al, Owen shares stories about childhood, growing up, dating and working life beyond comedy. The different strands slot together really well, as Owen joins the dots between Saturday night telly and real life, while joyfully interacting with his audience. If you share Owen’s passion for the talent shows of the 2000s, there will be plenty of memories and jibes to connect with. However, if, like me, you’ve never really watched these shows, it doesn’t matter, as Owen takes you on an entertaining, engaging and very funny journey. It’s a cohesive hour that deftly showcases Owen’s skills as a stand-up and entertainer.
Assembly George Square, until 25 Aug.
