COVERING THE EDINBURGH FESTIVAL SINCE 1996
Werewolf (Binge Culture)
The moment the basement’s door shuts, the paranoia begins. You side-eye performers and fellow punters alike, wondering if any of them can truly be trusted. New Zealand’s Binge Culture presents a theatrical take on the classic hidden-identity game, set in an isolated cabin where three wardens are attempting to keep everyone safe from a lycanthropic outbreak – and also perhaps concealing secrets of their own. At the start you receive a card detailing your role, which might be something helpful to the group, or might… not. The wardens are skilled improvisers, rolling with what the players give them and bouncing off each other to hilarious effect. But as the sun goes down, there are some genuinely effective scares in store, too.
Summerhall, until 26 Aug.
