Trash Test Dummies (Underbelly)

By | Published on Tuesday 22 August 2017

You know how on bin day you sometimes wish those esteemed public servants would just let themselves go with an extravaganza of clowning, acrobatics and slapstick humour? Well, wish no more, just get along and see these winning dafties. Anarchic fun, skilled acrobatics, impressive wit and versatility are all on show as, armed with only three wheelie bins for props (actually, there are other props, but no spoilers here), Dum-Dum, Dummy and their moustachioed leader, General Mess, cavort through a gleefully idiotic montage of scenes. They catch their breath cleverly through slo-mo ham acting over film score snippets in between bouts of lifts, flips and boldly intrusive audience interaction, along with a truly splendid bit of bin-bashing samba. The very opposite of rubbish.

Underbelly’s Circus Hub on the Meadows, until 26 Aug.
