Three one woman shows at the Edinburgh Festival 2024…

Showtime! | C aurora | 31 Jul-25 Aug
It’s the start of the Three To See tips for the Edinburgh Festival 2024. Let’s begin with something upbeat and nothing says upbeat like a show name with an exclamation mark in it. Though, to be fair, this is actually a dark and twisted one woman musical from Em Hoggett exploring the life of the artist and how far one will go in pursuit of “the dream”. Which is way better than “upbeat”, right? I’m seriously intrigued. Info and tickets here.

Really Good Exposure | Underbelly Cowgate | 1-25 Aug
Another one woman show for you now – not really so surprising given that this is a section of one woman shows – and actually, its themes feel comparable to the previous one. In this, a former child star whose mainstream grown up career isn’t going so well is considering getting into porn. It’s the debut solo show from ex-’Skins’ star Megan Prescott and questions what it means to earn a living as a performer. Info and tickets here.

For The Love Of Spam | Pleasance Courtyard | 31 Jul-26 Aug (pictured)
Great title that, isn’t it? But this show is not just a love letter to Spam, it’s about how canned meat symbolises modern day colonialism. It’s by CHamoru/Filipina theatre maker Sierra Sevilla, who uses puppetry, movement and on stage cooking to bring to life her home island of Guam, exploring immigrant narratives and explaining how colonialism is alive and well in the Pacific. Expect something funny, silly and educational. Info and tickets here.
