Three criminal acts at the Edinburgh Festival 2025…

Ben Goldsmith: CrimeLandTown | Underbelly Bristo Square | 12-24 Aug
Yay, time for more show recommendations and this time I decided to focus on the criminal element, not least because there’s quite a lot of that stuff about. First up it’s Ben Goldsmith, whose acclaimed mafia themed comedy one man (playing many characters) whodunnit returns for another run. Catch it now if you haven’t before. Info and tickets here.

Lesbian Space Crime | Pleasance Dome | 31 Jul-25 Aug (pictured)
“Astronaut Albright is accused of criminal activity against her ex-wife, heralding the dawn of space-crime and a new era for queer representation. Accused. Alone. Gay. Is she really a criminal… or a hero?” Another already acclaimed work for you, Offie nominated in fact, specifically a very funny musical comedy. Info and tickets here.

Bury The Hatchet | Pleasance Dome | 31 Jul-25 Aug
Lizzie Borden took an axe, gave her mother forty whacks. Did she though? And, when she saw what she had done, did she give her father forty one? I mean, she was acquitted, right? Not sure if this show has the answers, but it’s an irreverent fusion of gallows humour and vaudevillian horror set to bluegrass music and murder ballads. Sold, mate. Info and tickets here.
