Three AI shows at the Edinburgh Festival 2025…

Tipping Point: Artist Responses To AI | Inspace Gallery | 7-25 Aug
I should probably clarify that this set of AI shows isn’t a set of shows that have been created by AI, because that could be awful, though potentially very funny, I guess. This one is an exhibition of artworks responding to AI, an exploration of how creatives can more wisely deal with the current and future possibilities of it. Info here.

Douglas Widick: Paperclip | Gilded Balloon Patter House | 30 Jul-25 Aug
“MS Word’s writing assistant, Clippy, has seen the future – and it is bleak. Determined to prevent the impending techno-dystopia brought about by artificial intelligence, Clippy travels back in time to warn humanity in a thrilling adventure through the internet”. It looks like you’re writing a letter. Stop, go see this award winning comedy musical instead. Info and tickets here.

Stampin’ In The Graveyard | Summerhall | 31 Jul-25 Aug
This one’s intriguing: ROSE is an AI chatbot dishing out advice for the apocalypse, informed and powered by a black box of memories gleaned from people whose worlds have already ended. It’s an immersive experience that mixes physical theatre and live music, developed by acclaimed creative Elisabeth Gunawan. Info and tickets here
