Ginge Geordie Geek

Fringe faves The Ginge, The Geordie & The Geek, who will arrive with a six-part sketch show on BBC2 later this year, are back at the Festival this August. You all remember the Q&A we did with them last year, right? Well, here they go again, but with the simpler Quick Quiz.

TW: Tell us about your show in no more than sixty words.
GGG: It’s all the best sketches from our upcoming BBC2 series, plus Edinburgh stage favourites from our sell out 2009-2012 shows. In our traditional Fringe style expect an hour of clean, uplifting fun and silliness. As always the pace is relentless with many sketches and, of course, 80s anthems!

TW: Tell us about one other show you are planning to see this year.
GGG: This year the one show we will all definitely see is ‘Moving Family’ by the Geordie. It’s a great play about four teenagers which is funny, real and entertaining, whilst exploring some very serious issues; a great show for everyone.

TW: What’s your best piece of advice for Edinburgh first-time fringe-goers?
GGG: Get plenty of food in you before you start your day. There’s loads of bars at every venue and they stay open late, so you’ll need your porridge! Also go see The Ginge, The Geordie & The Geek, they’re meant to be great.

TW: What have you done to prepare for your Edinburgh show?
GGG: This show is the culmination of a crazy five years so it’s more a case of what haven’t we done. We’ve accumulated many credit cards, lost our hair and shared many a Travelodge bed, all in the name of Ginge, Geordie, Geek.

TW: Scotland’s got an important referendum coming up, if you could instigate your own referendum, what would it be on?
GGG: We’d like a vote to make the legendary Edinburgh chippy sauce (as in “salt and sauce?”) the official condiment of the whole nation!

‘The Ginge, The Geordie And The Geek- Live’ was performed at Just The Tonic at The Caves at Edinburgh Festival 2013.
