Taiwan Season: Lost Connection (Seed Dance Company)

Dance is perhaps not the most obvious medium through which to reflect on the social impact of our ever-increasing attachment and addiction to our mobile phones. However, as I sort through words and phrases to describe this show; breathless, dark, frenetic, in constant motion, you can’t take your eyes off it, well, that’s kind of the point. There’s no particular narrative to speak of, just four excellent dancers at times doing different things, almost competing for attention, at other times moving in perfect sync, or combining to create movements and shapes, all in an array of styles. It’s a sensory barrage and an at times dazzling evocation of the feeling of a dystopian future which, let’s face it, is already here.

Summerhall, until 25 Aug.
