Storyteller (The Owle Screame)
By Lizzie Milton | Published on Monday 28 August 2017
Brice Stratford is a captivating and knowledgeable storyteller. Over the course of this hour, he tells us two tales from East Scotland where, he explains, the more unusual stories are from. Both are related with fantastic detail, humanity and not a small degree of horror, and our host uses all his skills as an accomplished performer, knowing when to lean in and when to hold back. Between the two narratives, we hear a bit of mythological history, learning about the different influences on Scottish mythology and why there is no one else quite like Cailleach Bheur (a Scottish goddess of winter). Stratford has a clear passion for the history and craft of aural storytelling, and he delivers a highly entertaining and informative hour.
