Stamptown (Stamptown / Alchemation)

Stamptown returns to Pleasance at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, bringing with it absolute carnage and chaos in the form of comedy. Hosted by Zach Zucker’s alter-ego, Jack Tucker, the show brings together acts from around the world – though mostly from New York City – with every single trigger warning under the sun. Jonny Woolley does a brilliant job with the sound and lights for the show, responding to comedians with lightning-like reflexes to get jokes perfectly timed and there is a range of hilarious and bizarre acts, from stand-up to sword-swallowing. A highlight for me was Martin Urbano playing the role of a theatre critic, occasionally interrupting the show to contribute his own thoughts. It’s an insane and iconic show that everyone should see.

Pleasance Courtyard, until 23 Aug.
