See it if you dare, but you’ll miss out if you don’t. A man sets off to the woods to scatter his father’s ashes but there is something lurking in the trees. It’s a plotline that taps the essence of an artsy A24 horror film but brings about an outstanding stage production. With only a solitary old seat on stage, the technical aspect is given space to shine, as the use of lightning, and also extreme darkness, really create some stunning but haunting visuals; meanwhile, the booming sounds get your heart racing. Creator Patrick McPherson skilfully lures the audience deeply into his world, and we hang onto his every word. An intense hour that you most certainly won’t forget.
