COVERING THE EDINBURGH FESTIVAL SINCE 1996
Rory Marshall: Thank You For The Opportunity (Country Mile Productions In Association With United Agents)
Rory Marshall takes us through a whole CV’s worth of random jobs as we meet the bouncer, the flyerer, the waiter and the surfing instructor, among others, in a series of characters and sketches informed by the “life’s work of a jack-of-all-trades”. One of those characters keeps reappearing, the over-eager office worker whose various attempts at encouraging team bonding get increasingly extravagant and outlandish. It’s a fun and at times silly show, and Marshall does a good job of establishing an assortment of scenes and settings despite the simple set up on stage. Some of the sketches land better than others, though the show is pretty fast-paced, so when a weaker character pops up, you know one of the stronger ones will quickly follow.
Pleasance Courtyard, until 30 Aug.
