Rajiv’s Starry Feelings (Astraea Theatre Company / Discover Children’s Story Centre)

Have you ever wondered about how to talk to your children about their feelings? This excellent production, based on the book by Niall Moorjani, brings audiences into Rajiv’s world, where his father uses the stars as a metaphor for how to describe what is going on in his head. Performer Maryam Noorhimli does a fantastic job of letting audiences connect with Rajiv’s journey, whether it’s through petting a duck in a pond or smelling different spices from Rajiv’s father’s spice tin. The unspoken incorporation of words in British Sign Language is a lovely touch as it may encourage children – and their adults – to learn a bit more. And who can say no to a little space dance at the end?

Scottish Storytelling Centre, until 10 Aug.
