COVERING THE EDINBURGH FESTIVAL SINCE 1996
MESSY FRIENDS (Gendermess Productions)
‘MESSY FRIENDS’ is not just a show, it is the entire journey. Its multimedia approach blends physical performance with documentary style clips, interspersed throughout, which delve into the creative process and personal lives and struggles of those involved in the show’s creation. Fantastical costumes, physicality, dance, burlesque and drag is all thrown onto the stage in a melting pot of joyous expression. With endless creative movement and physicality, energy is at the heart of this show and every performer embodies their mantra ‘energy is a universal language’ on stage. This is a powerful blend of movement and meaningful discussion that speaks vulnerably about finding a tribe and expressing and embracing queer identity.
