Mary O’Connell: Dilly Dally
If parents want to help their children pursue a career in comedy, providing a stable childhood in a loving home isn’t really a good start. But fortunately for Mary O’Connell, her stable loving family is also rather eccentric, so the comedy material was there all along – even if it took a podcaster boyfriend moving into the family home to point out that those eccentricities weren’t the norm. The eccentric family and the podcaster boyfriend feature heavily in this show, in which we follow Mary as she dilly-dallys through life trying to figure out if and when adulthood actually begins. A great storyteller, Mary paints a vivid picture of the characters and events in her life, always finding the funny in each twist and turn.
Pleasance Courtyard, until 24 Aug.
