Australian comedian Lou Wall arrives by way of online virality, their song ‘Facebook Marketplace’ having blown up so spectacularly on TikTok that half of last night’s audience were word-perfect. Wall’s show purports to explore the experience of online fame, but really it’s about the relationship between truth and lies. I won’t spoil why. Suffice to say, Wall delights in their ability to string you along, their delivery peppered with maniacal cackles. As you’d expect, Wall’s comedy is chronically online, the rear-screen projection allowing them to supplement gags with a choice reaction video, inappropriate emoji or yassified Shrek. Even if you have no idea what any of that means, I bet you’ll still be won over by this fearsomely charismatic performer.
