After a sold-out run in New York City, Broadway performer Laura Benanti brings her show about the struggles of being a “pathological people pleaser” to Edinburgh. It is the perfect mix of comedic storytelling and original songs, with Benanti showing off her incredible talents while still being open and honest with the audience about the struggles she has faced over the years. Even though there are some darker moments in her past, there are heartwarming segments about the joy she has found through her husband and children. A highlight of the show is Benanti’s chemistry with music director and co-songwriter, Todd Almond, who leads the brilliant band of Johnnie Grant (drums) and Joseph McKearnon (bass) through the hour.
