COVERING THE EDINBURGH FESTIVAL SINCE 1996
Jill’s Tupperware Party (Asparagus Mousse Productions Starring Coral Bevan And Ricky Hunt)
A convention or a cult? Who cares? This is an immersive hour where Jill and Jill host the 80th annual Tupperware conference, but not all is what it seems. While both performers get busy portraying strange, egocentric characters so brilliantly, the audience remains a large part of this experience: there’s no seating, and we partake in dancing, chatting with fellow ‘Jills,’ and praising the head of the Tupperware pyramid scheme. The show relies on embracing this chaos and everyone keeping to their roles, or the show falls flat. The comedy is insanely silly but lands flawlessly; however, the horror could be improved; I wanted to feel more uncomfortable and possibly terrified. Overall, though, it’s a campy, fun time with friends.
Underbelly Cowgate, until 30 Aug.
