Imprints (The Palimpsest Project)

I got goosebumps from this. Charlie is attending a hometown party, but while talking to others, memories of her time at camp start resurfacing, and they are all centred around a mystery person, Max. It’s a non-linear story, and through inventive methods, the production elevates this story into a visual feast. It’s an explosion of creativity that involves puppetry, live camera, and storytelling, and certain moments left me awestruck. The show feels like perfection at times; every sound, light, and stage direction keeps the audience engaged and connected, and by the end, it has effectively moved everyone by dealing with its themes so elegantly. This show imprinted itself on me as one I’ll never forget.

Summerhall, until 25 Aug.
