Hilarious, and not a Government minister who refrains from calling people dickheads, Jess Phillips is the voice you need to listen to – no matter what your political persuasion. Not just as minister for safeguarding and violence against women, but as someone who’s worked in women’s services long before her political career, Phillip’s detailed harrowing stories that show exactly who she’s fighting for as well as putting to rest many assumptions we may have about the sex trafficking industry and the perpetrators of crime against women. What filled me with hope is that the talk was constructive – Phillips detailed policy and systems for how we can reduce these violent crimes, and after hearing her talk I believe she’s the one who can make a difference.
