I Wish You Well – The Gwyneth Paltrow Ski-Trial Musical (Paul Taylor-Mills)
Goop… this show is really good. A musical retelling of Gwyneth Paltrow’s skiing incident court case with a good dose of camp thrown in. It’s crammed with jokes containing some specific references that – despite landing – made it feel as though the show is somewhat skewed towards the younger generations who understand them. A live band performs a few catchy songs as part of an overload of high energy, well-choreographed numbers, although some sections were muffled. ‘I Wish You Well’ has notable moments, but throughout feels unfocused, and I just wanted the story to keep moving. It’s a dazzlingly talented cast , though, with the judge and lawyer characters proving to be show-stealing roles. Overall, you’ll be gooped, gagged and entertained by this show
Underbelly George Square, until 26 Aug.
