HALF MAN HALF BULL || PART TWO: DAEDALUS (Wright&Grainger with Oliver Tilney and Molly Morris)

Despite a sombre start, the overall feeling of ‘Daedalus’ is one of euphoric catharsis. Like its counterpart (‘PART ONE: THESEUS’) this is a compelling blend of storytelling, theatre and gig. Words and music combine into something that transcends genre, something really special: compelling, and profoundly moving. By turns playful and mournful, the talented performers explore the humanity behind the myth – motifs of darkness and being lost in labyrinths abound. Daedalus is the perfect counterpoint to Theseus; one focusing on a son missing his father’s love, the other on a father who loses his beloved son. Each can be enjoyed independently, but my wholehearted recommendation is to watch both, back to back. Experience the full emotional journey in all its glory.

Summerhall, until 26 Aug.
