COVERING THE EDINBURGH FESTIVAL SINCE 1996
Gearóid Farrelly: Gearóid Rage
If you struggle with the pronunciation of certain Irish names, Gearóid Farrelly’s show title is designed to help you out. It’s Geh-road, so Geh-road Rage, see? Rage because Farrelly has decided he’s tired of being a joyful gay man and wants to spend this hour in our company running through various gripes, engaging in some good old fashioned ranting. Though, most of the ranting is pretty joyful as Farrelly finds plenty of humour in his gripe list. The selected gripes are relatable and, in the main, light, though he delves into somewhat more serious territory when describing his run-ins with the Irish Blood Transfusion Service and the pre-2022 restrictions on gay men donating blood. Even that, though, is played for laughs. It’s a solid and consistent hour of great stand-up, with little for me to gripe about.
Assembly George Square, until 25 Aug.
