When the lights came on at the end, I looked around, and everyone was sobbing. It’s a tale about the Lockerbie plane crash, told from a personal perspective, and Annie Lareau’s gorgeous writing is incredibly effective. It recalls this tragically heavy topic amazingly well, balancing humour with seriousness in an excellently structured script that interweaves moments depicting friends having fun with the ticking clock of impending doom. The audience connects easily to the various characters played by the ensemble of Lareau, Brenda Joyner and Peter Dylan O’Connor, who give raw powerful performances. This is a true story about loss, and the telling of it, accompanied by projected real photos, pierces the heart. ‘Fuselage’ pays tribute to those on board in the most magnificent way.
