COVERING THE EDINBURGH FESTIVAL SINCE 1996
Foxdog Studios: Robo Bingo Kids (Georgia House Studios)
If getting your kids off-device is a motivation for taking your kids to the Fringe, this probably isn’t for you. There’s a QR code when you go in, to create your avatar; and actual bingo ensues. You mark called numbers on your phone, whilst enjoying our hosts’ entertaining take on bingo-calling. Somewhere around the middle, they explain that they are actually developers and “wrote the code for this show”. At this point, my soul quietly departed as proceedings shifted to slickly administered, noisy, device-based chaos. Kids seemed to enjoy it. Charge your phone before you go and, if your kid has one of their own, charge that too, whether you want to beat them at bingo or indeed have something else to do.
Underbelly Cowgate, until 24 Aug.
