So we are off already with the Festival awards for 2013, with The Scotsman presenting its first batch of Fringe First awards – celebrating productions of new plays – yesterday, and The Herald presenting its first batch of more eclectic Angel Awards this morning.

And the first typically Traverse-show-heavy batch of Fringe First winners were…

• Actors Touring Company, Young Vic Theatre, Brageteatret and Schauspielhaus Wein for ‘The Events’ at the Traverse

• Assembly, Riverside Studios & Poorna Jagannathan for ‘Nirbhaya’ at Assembly Hall

• Donal O’Kelly for ‘Fionnuala’ at Hill Street Theatre

• Gate Theatre London for ‘Grounded’ at the Traverse

• Gilded Balloon for ‘Kiss Me Honey, Honey!’ at Gilded Balloon Teviot

• Tortoise In A Nutshell & Cumbernauld Theatre for ‘Feral’ at Summerhall

• Traverse Theatre & Datum Point for ‘Ciara’ at the Traverse
