Edinburgh Fringe announces partner for website overhaul

The Edinburgh Fringe Society – which supports the community of performers, producers and venues that stage the Edinburgh Fringe each year – has announced a new partnership as part of plans to revamp its online box office, which has come under criticism in recent years.

The Fringe Society will work with Edinburgh-based digital consultancy StormID on developing a new ticketing website, with the aim that that site goes live ahead of the 2027 festival.

Being based in Edinburgh, StormID “is already well acquainted with the festival”, a statement from the Fringe Society says, adding that its bid for the job to overhaul the ticketing site included “considered and innovative suggestions that balance ethical and environmental concerns with technical advances”.

Fringe Society CEO Tony Lankester adds, “We know audiences love the live Fringe experience, and we work to ensure they have a range of innovative tools to help them discover the programme, pick shows and plan their Fringe seamlessly and efficiently”.

“The announcement of Storm ID as our newest partner is driven by our hunger to meet those needs with a world-class digital experience”, he goes on.

“Storm ID share this hunger, and our commitments to sustainability and accessibility. As an Edinburgh-based agency, they also share our passion for the Fringe and all that it means. They are the perfect partners to help us research, develop and deliver the best suite of digital solutions for our Fringe community”.
