Baba Brinkman – The Rap Guide To Religion (Soho Playhouse Inc / Rap Guide Media)
By Daisy Malt | Published on Sunday 31 August 2014
If I could sum up Baba’s show in less than ten words, it would probably be: a TED talk, but funnier, and with more rapping. ‘The Rap Guide To Religion’ offers a hilarious take on belief systems vs. science, delivering a show that is as educational as it is funny. But Baba doesn’t belittle religion here, instead drawing on behavioural science to inform his comical raps on why people hold beliefs, how they come to be in the first place and the role they have in society. Brinkman’s skilful mix of humour, science and rhyme results in wonderfully crafted, intelligent raps that you may well find yourself singing in your head afterwards.
Gilded Balloon, until 25 Aug.
