ED2014 5/5 Reviews ED2014 Comedy Reviews
NewsRevue 2014 (Canal Café Theatre)
By Stephanie Gray | Published on Sunday 31 August 2014
There’s nothing like a satirical sketch show to unite an audience in despair for humanity; and few do it better than long-standing Fringe favourites NewsRevue, who, accompanied by a live pianist, joke and sing their way through the current affairs of the twenty-first century. All material is up to date and intelligent, but never too difficult to understand, even at the lightning fast pace with which they fire through sketches. It’s a non-stop hour, meticulous in execution and just downright funny; they cover everything and everyone in a seemingly endless list of scenarios. Some sketches are controversial, but turn up with an open mind and be prepared to laugh them off and you won’t be disappointed.
Pleasance Courtyard, until 25 Aug.
