Jamie MacDonald – That Funny Blind Guy 2 – The Good, The Stag And The Ugly (Jamie MacDonald)
By Jon Stapley | Published on Sunday 31 August 2014
A small turnout can happen to any comedian, and how they deal with it is a real test of mettle and class. Jamie MacDonald passed admirably, giving a single-digit audience a show with as much energy and charm as if he’d been playing to a packed house. Billing himself as ‘Scotland’s hottest visually impaired comedian’, MacDonald puts together a slick set of anecdotal humour. He’s an excellent raconteur; a story about a disastrous skiing lesson is particularly successful. There are some lulls – the set loses its way towards the end, with a long story about a wedding that segues into some vanilla material about Jesus and his disciples. MacDonald is a funny, natural stage presence though, and deserves bigger audiences.
Assembly George Square Studios, until 25 Aug.
