Spoken Word Showcases And Competitions (Spoken Word at PBH’s Free Fringe)
By Helena Wadia | Published on Sunday 11 August 2013
PBH’s ‘Spoken Word All-Star Showcase’ aims to present both new talent and some of the brightest names in the poetry world. On their opening night lots of the performers were late, there were technical failures and the entire show seemed disorganised – yet it still managed to be charming. Alex Gwyther presented some young, fresh, comic and down-to-earth poetry, whilst Superbard – “storyteller from the future” – gave the audience an original and witty piece set to music. The night finished with Kate Fox’s hilariously self-deprecating (and a just little bit dirty) poems. Each night is guaranteed to bring a unique set of fresh and original poetry on every topic imaginable. Catch this free show whilst you can.
Banshee Labyrinth, until 24 Aug, 7.30pm.
