Luke Wright – Essex Lion (Ditto Productions / Escalator East To Edinburgh)
By Peter Dorman | Published on Saturday 17 August 2013
Luke Wright gives an insight into his psyche through the medium of poetry. Bursting with charisma, he rhymes off satirical verses about Essex lions, posh plumbers, and houses that used to be boozers, in an unequivocally witty hour. The talented lyricist fantastically paints a poetic picture throughout his verses, inducing hearty laughter with almost every line. His stand-up segments are fresh and well delivered, keeping the audience engaged and avoiding any lulls in laughter between poems. However it is not just an hour of merriment, Wright’s poems have a more poignant and deeper meaning, addressing life, love, and mortality in an extremely insightful way. Expect a rib-tickling hour in the company of a brilliant performance poet.
Assembly George Square, until 26 Aug (not 13), 6.00pm.
