COVERING THE EDINBURGH FESTIVAL SINCE 1996
Festival Chill-out Zone (Neal’s Yard)
Unlike many Fringe events at ordinary shops, there’s a clear need for this event’s offering – relaxation on demand. The catalogue has the usual suspects: life coaching, acupuncture, reflexology, hypnotherapy and herbalism. Being sceptical, I went for treatments which actually work, so an Indian head massage and some lavender incense from excellent herbalist/masseur Fiona Morris. It’s all nice and customised – there’s no incense, pan pipes or muscle-grinding if you’re not inclined – and time is very pleasantly stretched. If you’re untroubled by the luxury (prices start at £15) or mysticism of it (which you could counter with the Edinburgh Skeptics show) come along; it’ll get you ready to head back onto Princes Street and get wound up all over again.
Neal’s Yard (Hanover Street), until 31 Aug, 10am-7pm.
