A Young Man Dressed As A Gorilla Dressed As An Old Man Sits Rocking In A Rocking Chair For Fifty Six Minutes And Then Leaves… 5 (PBH’s Free Fringe)

This show is nothing but true to its title. And with a name like this, many curious people were drawn in. Returning for its fifth year, this event provided an interesting reflection on how creative the crowd could become as audience participation became the crux of the show. People interacted with the gorilla by swapping glasses, throwing paper planes and balancing items unsuccessfully on his rocking head. A mob mentality developed as people who left early were booed out and every slight movement made by the gorilla was cheered. Discussions abounded about the deeper meaning of this piece of performance art, but I think many of us were just hanging around in the hope that something else would happen.
