Cradle Of Chemistry
By Michael Black | Published on Thursday 22 August 2013
Rather than an attempt to provide the visitor with an increased scientific knowledge, this exhibition is a self-congratulatory celebration of the chemistry department at the University of Edinburgh. The display fails to make its subject accessible and there is a distinct lack of content, as well as a lack of good natural light, making objects harder to see. There is a serious film about feminism and its relevance to science, which proves interesting, but overall it’s hard to see how this show would appeal to anyone other those who are already experts in their fields; or those who are considering studying chemistry here…
Edinburgh University Library, until 27 Aug (not Sundays), 10.00am-5.00pm.
