Alpha And Omega (Angela Lemaire)
By Jasmine Faller | Published on Thursday 29 August 2013
Tucked away in McNaughtan’s Bookshop is a stunning collection of illustrations by the talented Angela Lemaire. ‘Alpha And Omega’ is a celebration of the special release of Christophe Smart’s work ‘Jubilate Agno’, which consists mostly of the original woodcuts and lino-cuts made for the book. Despite the littering of symbolism throughout the images, Lemaire’s style has an innocence to it which is rather charming. And if you’re especially taken with any of the designs, you can pick up copies of the book and the original print work, or have a flick through to enjoy the modern art teamed with the classic poetry. A delightful way to while away the hours.
McNaughtan’s Bookshop, until 31 Aug (not 18, 19, 25, 26), 11.00am.
