Undone (Wordsmith’s Theatre Factory / Assembly)
By Jade Wilson | Published on Tuesday 27 August 2013
A balletic solo performance, this one one-man play is a mournful dance through a young man’s family life. He is exposed; there is nothing to hide behind on this stark stage: just a tin bathtub, an empty leather suitcase and a pair of Y-fronts. There are some beautiful images, but the words never stop coming. Whilst poetic at times, the writing just formed a soundtrack to the performer’s amazing physicality and the choreography of the piece. Without a chance to reflect, it was difficult to make sense of the narrative, or to be drawn in by our narrator and the many family members he portrays. It is a delicate piece and so I wanted to care more than I did.
Assembly George Square, until 26 Aug, (not 12), 4.10pm.
