ED2013 2/5 Reviews ED2013 Theatre Reviews
The Ghost Hunter (Theatre Of The Damned)
By Rory Morgan | Published on Monday 19 August 2013
Going into this performance I was not sure what the tone or the focus of the show would be, and I left feeling much the same. It is difficult to distinguish whether director Jeffrey Mayhew wanted his audience to jump in fright or just laugh at the intermittent humorous moments. The star of the show, Tom Richards, also had quite a strange almost over rehearsed candid vibe to his delivery, alienating his audience and being unintentionally stiff. Even the interesting occurrences where light was shed on the reality of the ghost touring industry seemed to further confuse this play. The final nail in the coffin of this production is the utter lack of atmosphere it exudes, a vital factor in any ghost story.
Pleasance Courtyard, until 26 Aug, 2.00pm.
