There’s nothing particularly wrong with this one-woman show about the misadventures of a mother on holiday with her teenaged son, but there’s nothing great about it either. It’s ably performed by Ginny Davis – who wrote the piece too; Davis relates the misadventures of the holiday through the filter of the narrator Ruth: the mother. And therein lies the problem; she isn’t really playing the teenage son, or the son’s friend’s mother…she’s playing the mother playing the other parts. This lends the whole thing the feel of a gossip over coffee rather than an actual show. It’s entertaining enough, very nice, very middle-class, very safe. If that’s what you look for in a Fringe show, then you’ll probably like it.
