Serotonin Syndrome (Serotonin Syndrome Productions)

By | Published on Monday 19 August 2013

Serotonin Syndrome left me feeling like I needed therapeutic drugs to understand what I had just seen. The likeable duo, Genevieve Taricco and Mycah Leigh Artis, began with a period of dancing in a room full of balloons – something that I still didn’t understand by the end of the play. The production should be commended for its use of different forms of expression and media but I often felt like I was watching a drama class trying to put as many different theatrical techniques into one piece as possible. Whilst these different expressions were executed well, the play went from therapy session, to interactive audience participation, to watching Artis rub cocoa-butter on her feet. There was no direction or storyline.

Gryphon Venues at the Point Hotel, until 17 Aug (not 11, 12) 8.30pm.
