ED2013 3/5 Reviews ED2013 Theatre Reviews
Preen Back Yer Lugs! (Svenska Teatern / Ace-Production)
By Arjun Sajip | Published on Tuesday 27 August 2013
This isn’t really a ‘play’, but it is certainly theatrical. The cast of six all play different characters, and things are, on the whole, frenetic, loud, musical, and highly entertaining. Greater amusement will be had by people who can understand Scots dialects; though daft, heavy-handed parodies of the likes of Alex Salmond (‘Alex Almond’) should raise more general chuckles. The performances are highly and energetically comic, and although the show begins to drag towards the end, the cast are clearly having a ball. It’s a strange experience, but if you enjoy send-ups and deconstructions of national stereotypes, along with a hefty dose of Scots, go and see.
Pleasance Dome, until 25 Aug, 12.25pm.
