Murder, She Didn’t Write (Degrees Of Error)
By Lizzie Milton | Published on Sunday 25 August 2013
A completely improvised murder mystery; the concept alone is enough to pique your interest and the actual execution was generally quite good. Some performers were clearly more experienced than others – Dan Titmuss and Lizzy Skrzypiec in particular were very sharp and rarely faltered or corpsed – but others would sometimes confuse the plot a little by adding contradictory information or would struggle to respond quickly and appropriately to the other performers around them. So while the cast certainly understood the style, the structure of a murder mystery wasn’t always quite there, leaving some interaction, particularly near the end of the performance, slightly confused. All that said, the performers were on the whole highly adept and, despite these few criticisms, it was a very enjoyable show.
Sweet Grassmarket, until 25 Aug, 6.15.
