Journey to X (TS Drama Theatre Company)
By Kate Pasola | Published on Tuesday 27 August 2013
TS Drama Theatre Company performed this thoughtful and relevant play with dedication to role, creative staging and suitcases full of effort. Penny (Rosie Johnson) has become pregnant and considers her choices. Set to the backdrop of a group of teenage friends going to audition for a televised talent show, this theme was tackled with great sensitivity. With her amusingly unenthusiastic manner, perfect facial expression and excellently timed delivery, Clementine Odgers played the part of a young modern feminist remarkably well. Although the talent-show story seemed frivolous, and sometimes distracted from Penny’s storyline, it was both light-humoured and politically conscious. TS must be commended for bringing an important human rights debate to Fringe – where it’s welcomed with warmth.
