Good Things by Liz Lochhead (Leitheatre)
By Helena Wadia | Published on Tuesday 27 August 2013
A play based on misunderstandings and lost loves, ‘Good Things’ explores issues of age, love and family, all to hilarious effect. The comic timing is mostly brilliant and the play extremely well cast. The perfectly patronising Marjory (played by Moira Macdonald) and the hilariously wacky Doris ( Alison Kennedy) really stood out and soon became audience favourites. Fiona Robertson should also be commended for her role of Susan, a character who carried the play all the way through. Unfortunately, there were quite a few slip-ups and forgotten or mumbled lines that made the things drag a little towards the end – but overall, a charming and fun evening at the theatre.
St Serf’s Church Hall, until 17 Aug (not 4, 11), 7.30pm (2.30pm on 17).
