God Of Carnage ([YO10] Productions)
By Andrew Bell | Published on Monday 26 August 2013
A French black comedy of modern, middle class manners, ‘God Of Carnage’ sees two sets of parents meeting to discuss their children’s fight. What follows is a dissection of their marriages, society’s pleasantries and the rules of etiquette. The thankfully translated script is sharp and funny, although the social satire feels a little dated. The cast are decent, with George Rowell’s delightfully oily lawyer the best of the bunch, but are never brilliant, with the subtleties of the script and the differing moods sometimes reduced to either politeness or shouting rage. Overall, this is a production that will keep you solidly entertained for an hour, but won’t change your world.
Greenside, until 24 Aug, 5.30pm.
