Songs For A New World (Green Room)
By Lauren Stephen | Published on Friday 30 August 2013
The concept of “moving musical theatre” translates well in this adaptation of an aptly described “abstract musical”. There’s no linear structure, only one over-arching idea: that of making decisions. The cast displayed high energy throughout, and stand-out actress Emily Goad created a strong audience connection, provoking a range of emotions from those watching. However, anyone unfamiliar with the show’s concept may find it difficult to fully immerse themselves in the series of songs that are connected to themes rather than character. Low production values also mean that a strong capacity for imagination is required at times.
St Andrew’s and St George’s West, George St, until 17 Aug, 7.30pm.
