The Soil (Native Rhythms and Assembly)
By Stephanie Gray | Published on Friday 9 August 2013
Rarely have I heard music with such soul; rarely have I seen performers enjoy themselves so much on stage. The three members of The Soil bring life to the room. Some songs are in English, others in South African Kasi and cover a huge range of styles including jazz, hip-hip, Afro-pop and beatboxing. Emotion is brilliantly conveyed, at its best when the a cappella trio sing in their native language. They’re very supportive of one another, and it’s obvious the three are great friends. Their show is filled with an obvious love for music, for fun and for life in general. A magnificent night for all involved, and more than deserving of five stars.
Assembly George Square, until 26 Aug (not 12), 7.10pm.
