Scheidemann and Hindemith Organ Works (David Hamilton)
By Alice Harrold | Published on Monday 26 August 2013
In the grand surroundings of Canongate Kirk off the Royal Mile, we gathered to hear an organ recital of the works of some of Germany’s most celebrated composers. They are linked for this performance because of the significant anniversaries they both have this year. Hamilton, who is the organist of Strathclyde University, performed these sonatas to an attentive audience. The immense space in the church provided the perfect acoustics and grandeur for this recital, and the atmosphere that went with it. This is yet another of the great ways to hear classical music played by masterful musicians for affordable prices during the festival. A relaxing opportunity to take time out of the busy Fringe lifestyle and just enjoy some wonderful music.
Canongate Kirk, until 24 Aug, 12.00pm.
