The Showstoppers’ Improvised Musical (Showstopper Productions – Festival Highlights)
By Samantha Strachan | Published on Saturday 24 August 2013
Dylan Emery is on the phone to his producer, pitching a new musical. He needs ideas and asks the audience for suggestions: The Large Hadron Collider, a rocketship and a brothel are all put on the table. The script will be on the producer’s desk within an hour. Using elements from Sondheim, Avenue Q, and anything else the audience or Emery wanted to suggest, the talented ‘Showstoppers’ cast build a story set in the largest all male brothel in Europe (sole female, Pippa Evans, naturally plays the madame). The highlight was Adam Meggido’s improvised yodelling and dance moves, getting everyone in the audience involved. Every night is guaranteed to be brand new and very entertaining. Come armed with challenging suggestions.
Gilded Balloon Teviot, until 25 Aug (not 22), 10.30pm.
